I am a Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellow in Politics at Nuffield College, University of Oxford. I completed my PhD in Politics at Princeton University in 2024.

I work primarily on the social and political philosophy of structural injustice: how social structures (e.g. the law, culture, infrastructure, the economy) work together in unintended ways to create group-based unfreedoms, inequalities, and vulnerabilities. My work has been published in Philosophy & Public Affairs, Journal of Social Philosophy, Boston Review, and Law and Philosophy.

I publish under my legal name: Hochan Kim (김호찬 in Korean). I go by a nickname that I picked in first grade as a newcomer to the U.S.: Sonny.
