Starting Fall 2026, I am an Assistant Professor at Bates College. Previously, I was a Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellow at Nuffield College, University of Oxford. I completed my PhD in Politics at Princeton University in 2024.

I work mainly on issues and questions of structural injustice, drawing on insights across contemporary political theory and social and political philosophy. 

I publish under my legal name: Hochan Kim (김호찬 in Korean). I go by a nickname that I picked in first grade as a newcomer to the U.S.: Sonny.
